5 Delicious Pound Cake Recipes

Why Is Pound Cake So Good

Hi, my name’s Liz and I’m addicted to pound cake.  Yes, I am here to confess that I am obsessed with pound cake and here’s why:

  • Pound Cake Is Absolutely Delicious – When pound cake is done right it’s awesome.  You can’t beat that dense and moist texture and that unique pound cake flavor.  Oh, and don’t forget about that crispy crust.
  • Pound Cake Is Simple And Easy – Most pound cakes contain between 6 and 10 simple ingredients.  You mix these together, put them in a pan and bake.  That’s it.  You don’t even have to ice or glaze a pound cake.  Yes, you can dig in right when it comes out of the oven.
  • Pound Cake Can Be Served Almost Anywhere And For Any Occasion – You can dress it up for an elegant dinner party, take it to your church pot luck (we Baptist love it at ours), serve it for brunch or after dinner dessert and it’s always makes the best midnight snack.
  • Pound Cake Can Be Made In So Many Different Flavors – If you dream of a pound cake flavor, you can probably make it. Whether it’s vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, lemon, caramel, apple, bourbon, blueberry or any other flavor it’s always delicious.
  • Pound Cake Toppings – You can top pound cake with such a variety of toppings from fruits to sauces (see below for a more extensive list).
  • Pound Cake Freezes So Darn Well – I personally think pound cake tastes even better after serving some freezer time. This allows you to bake your cake ahead of time and freeze or freeze your pound cake leftovers (you can’t leave these leftovers out or they will go straight to your hips).
