Little Pie Company Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie

I found my recipe for apple sour cream pie in a church cook book.  However, as I began to Google “sour cream apple pie” Little Pie Company, a bakery in New York City, began to pop up.  It turns out that Little Pie Company is a no-frills bakery specializing in scratch-made pies in three sizes, plus cakes, cookies & muffins and it’s well known for its Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie.

This Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie Little Pie Company recipe has been voted the best apple pie in New York City.  It’s not your ordinary apple pie. Their Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie is made with Granny Smith apples, fresh sour cream and topped with brown sugar, cinnamon and walnut streusel.

The addition of sour cream to ordinary apple pie breaks all the apple pie rules, and that, plus the crazy delicious walnut streusel topping, has the citizens of New York City so psyched about this pie.

Unfortunately, for us bakers, this sour cream apple walnut pie recipe is a hush, hush secret at the Little Pie Company.  However, bakers and recipe developers have done their best to emulate it.  The recipe I’m giving here, from my church cookbook, is one of those recipes.  It might not be The Little Pie Company’s exact recipe, but I can assure you it is mouthwateringly delish.

If you’re ever in The Big Apple and want to experience the goodness of Little Pie Company, it’s located in the Theatre District, at 424 W 43rd St, New York, NY 10036.  Little Pie Company has just that location.  You can also order from them at The Little Pie Company.
