I found this recipe in a cookbook from Twin Lakes Baptist Church (Madison, Mississippi circa 2000) titled Recipes & Remembrances.
It’s Not Just A Cake With Powdered Sugar On Top
If you’re thinking this is just an old fashion, homemade pound cake dusted with powdered sugar, oh are you mistaken.
Confectioner’s sugar pound cake uses confectioner’s sugar in the cake instead of regular granulated sugar.
This variation on the classic pound cake is a divine delight. Your taste buds will love every calorie that passes your lips and goes to your hips.
Any pound cake aficionado, or cake lover, will want to add this to their recipe collection and put on heavy baking rotation.

Powdered Sugar Pound Cake Toppings
To serve it naked or not? That’s a tough question for this cake, or any pound cake. It’s delicious served naked. However, it’s just as good served with your favorite glaze (try my cream cheese glaze) or icing or topped with any of these:
- Berries
- Peaches
- Cherries
- Chocolate, Caramel or Cherry Sauce
- Nutella
- Ice Cream
- Whipped Cream
Difference Between Powdered Sugar and Granulated Sugar
Powdered sugar is much finer, lighter and dense than granulated sugar. In fact you can make powdered sugar from granulated sugar by simply mixing granulated sugar in a blender or food processor.
