These easy tuxedo cupcakes are a scrumptious blend of deep chocolate and cheesecake. They come from the Finest Recipes (1995 addition) cookbook from First Baptist Church Huntsville, AL.
Tools Used In Easy, Simple Cupcake Recipe
- hand or stand mixer
- (2) 12 cup muffin tins
- cupcake liners
- 1 to 2 baking spatulas
- dry measuring cups
- wet measuring cup
- measuring spoons
- sifter
Ingredients In Simple Tuxedo Cupcake Recipe
- cream cheese room temperature – room temperature cream cheese incorporates so much easier than cold cream cheese.
- egg unbeaten – combines with the cream cheese and sugar and makes a cheesecake filling.
- sugar
- chocolate chips – mini chips probably work better, but regular size are also good.
- cake flour sifted – cake flour can clump together easily, so it is good to sift it.
- sugar
- cocoa
- baking soda
- water – you can substitute coffee
- cooking oil
- Vinegar – combined with the baking soda it takes the place of an egg in this cupcake
Also Known As Black Bottom Cupcakes – Not Sexy
While doing my research on these cupcakes I found they are also know as Black Bottom Cupcakes.
Whatever you call them, let’s face it these are not sexy cupcakes. These cupcakes are the not so hot girl you should have asked to prom. You know, the one with inner beauty.
Because these easy chocolate cheesecake cupcakes taste incredible, but lack in outer beauty, I’m calling them my John 7:24 cupcakes – Don’t judge by appearance….
If you judge these moist chocolate cheesecake lovelies by appearance you will be missing out. These are pure cupcake yumminess at its best.
It’s a deep chocolate cupcake with a cheesecake middle. The cheesecake middle is filled with chocolate chips and nuts. All these put together complement each other in a glorious way.
These chocolate cheesecake delights are so easy to make and they can be served at so many different occasions (birthdays, take them on road trips, picnics, after meal dessert, pot luck, etc.). Great for kids, families, adults and freeze well.
If you are embarrassed to be seen with them in public, you might want to lightly ice them. I’ve provided directions for a cream cheese frosting, that will top these off brilliantly.

Actually when I first saw these I thought you were making leaf designs on the tops. They look decadent and would make a great dessert for those members of the family that can eat wheat and dairy!
Yes abstract leaf designs. That was what I was going for. Thanks for your kind comment.
