Really, a cake that’s primary ingredients are tons of butta, sugar and eggs combined with a rich, silky, indulgent chocolate hazelnut spread. That’s just pure and sinful goodness that is nothing but intoxicating.
I might not be tempted by alcohol or liquor, but this Nutella Pound Cake recipe knocks me off the wagon. I can’t stop at one piece.
Easy Nutella Cake
It’s really a very simple goodness. A moist vanilla loaf pound cake that is layered with 2 layers of Nutella.
This Nutella swirled vanilla loaf pound cake is then topped with an easy, rich 2 ingredient chocolate ganache made with chocolate chips and heavy whipping cream.
It’s just so easy and oh so intoxicating, so get off the wagon and give it a bake today.
Nutella Swirl Pound Cake Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter room temperature
- 1½ cups sugar
- 4 eggs room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1½ cups flour sifted
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- â…› tsp salt
- ½ cup milk room temperature
- 1 13 oz jar of Nutella softened
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- ¼ cup whipping cream
How To Make Nutella Pound Cake
To Make The Nutella Cake
- Preheat oven to 325° and grease and flour 9×5 loaf pan
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt and set aside
- Cream butter and sugar well
- Add eggs one at a time. Beat each egg until just incorporated
- Add vanilla extract
- Add flour mixture alternately with milk. Do not over mix
- Add â…“ of batter to pan. Spread half the Nutella on top. Repeat with another 1/3 of the batter and the rest of the Nutella. Top with remaining cake batter. Soften Nutella spreads much easier. See below for instructions.
- Bake at 325° for 50 to 60 minutes
- Remove from oven and let cake cool for 10 to 12 minutes and release.
To Make The Chocolate Ganache
- Add chocolate chips and cream in a microwave safe bowl.
- Heat in 20 second increments and mix after each increment.
- Repeat until ganache is smooth.
- Spoon, pour or drizzle over cake.

How to Soften Nutella In The Microwave
Nutella is much easier to layer/spread in the batter when it is softened.
You can either scoop some in a microwave safe bowl and microwave or microwave it in the jar (since I was using the whole jar for this recipe I microwaved it in the jar).
Heat the Nutella in 20 second intervals (these short intervals will cause it not to burn). After each 20 second interval remove it from the microwave and give it a stir.
How To Freeze Nutella Swirl Pound Cake
Make sure the Nutella loaf cake is fully cooled before freezing. To freeze, wrap the cooled loaf in aluminum foil (I like to use 2 layers of aluminum foil) and freeze from 4 to 6 months. You can also put the Nutella loaf in a freezer bag or an airtight container.
