Why I love this Oreo pound cake
This is one of those cakes that goes beyond delicious. It goes into the relm of sensual and SINsational. You know the scene from When Harry Met Sally in Katz Deli. That’s how you’ll react to this cake. “And that’s as risque as this site will ever get.”
My favorite part of this cake is how the cream from the Oreos fuses and blends with the density and rich flavor of the pound cake. This creates a truly luscious and mouthwatering experience.
Ingredients for Oreo cookie pound cake
This simple recipe requires the following 7 ingredients:
- Butter – please make sure it’s real butter and at room temperature.
- Cream Cheese – I used full fat cream cheese and room temperature is best.
- Granulated Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Eggs – Please use room temperature eggs and make sure you beat well after adding each one.
- Flour – All purpose is just fine. I sift mine.
- Oreo’s or Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – Between 24 – 27 cookies. I put mine in a gallon Ziplop Bag and lightly rolled over the cookies with a rolling pin. This created fairly large pieces.
- Sifted Powdered Sugar – For the glaze. Sifting the powdered sugar is best to get rid of any lumps.

How to keep Oreos, chocolate chips, nuts and fruit from sinking in a cake
Simply toss the Oreos in a little flour before incorporating in the batter. This also works with chocolate chips, nuts and fruit.
Is it ok to freeze cookies and cream pound cake?
A pound cake that’s been in the freezer tastes just as delicious or even more delicious.
Freeze the whole Oreo cake or a portion of the cake
- Cool the cake completely
- Wrap the cake 2 or 3 times in plastic wrap and aluminum foil. I usually use just aluminum foil.
- Put in large freezer storage bag. If you don’t have a large enough bag, you can freeze it wrapped well in plastic wrap and aluminum foil.
Freeze the Oreo cake in slices
- You can wrap your slices individually in plastic wrap and aluminum foil or only aluminum foil. Then place them in a freezer storage bag or container.
- You can also slice the cake and put slices of parchment paper between the slices. Then wrap the sliced cake just like wrapping the whole cake or portion of the cake above.
