Tempting, Apple Cobbler With Crumble Topping
This traditional apple cobbler recipe is loaded with cinnamon spiced apple filling and topped with a sweet, buttery crumble topping (my favorite part of this yummy apple cinnamon cobbler). So, how can this cobbler be anything but SINsual and tempting?
Eve tempted, and got Adam to give into just an apple. Imagine how much more tempting this is, with all the cinnamon, sugar, flour and butta added.
However, let me assure you this temptation is worth giving into. The melody of the cinnamon spiced apples with the crumble topping is a thing of pure yum and that makes every calorie worth it.
Easy Recipe For Apple Cobbler
So this is not an apple cobbler using pie filling and it’s not an apple cinnamon cobbler that uses a cake mix, so you might be thinking about moving on to the next recipe when you see “from scratch”. But, STOP! in the name of cobbler, before you Google away.
I promise you, the worst part of making this cobbler is peeling the apples, which you also have to do with a cobbler made with a cake mix.
After you peel your apples, all you need to do is mix your butter, sugar and flour into a crumbly mixture, spoon it over the apples and bake.
Seriously, for a scrumptious dessert like this, that is really no effort at all. There is a huge, yummy, delectable return on your investment with this quick apple cinnamon cobbler from scratch recipe.
Tools Used In Easy Apple Cobbler

Tips On Making The Best Apple Cobbler Recipe
- If possible choose fresh apples that are in season for you apple cinnamon cobbler. Fresh, ripe apples will have a strong apple aroma. Unripe apples will be overly hard and to green or yellow. (See below for the best apples to use for cobbler)
- Look for firm apples with no bruises or bug holes.
- Cut all your apples into into similar sized bite sized pieces. Nobody wants to bite into a big piece of apple that didn’t get cooked all the way.
- You can make your apple filling less sweet by using 1/3 or 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of the 2/3’s cup called for in this recipe.
- Your cobbler is done when the filling is bubbling all around the edges and the crust/topping is golden brown.
- To make this apple cinnamon cobbler even more irresistable, serve warm and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
- Elevate this already mouthwatering apple cinnamon cobbler even more with a caramel drizzle. That will have your taste buds bursting with excitement.
What Apples Are Best For Apple Cobbler
There’s such an assortment of apples to choose from at the grocery store, but which ones rain supreme for cobbler baking? Which apple or apples will rock our taste buds and have them doing the happy dance?
This article from Betty Crocker says, “Baking Apples” rain supreme for baking pies and crisps (I’m putting cobblers in with pies and crisps). A baking apple is one that is firm and holds its structure during baking. In other words, it doesn’t get all mushy while baking.
These baking apples include:
- Braeburn Apples
- Cortland Apples
- Honey Gold Apples
- Jonathan Apples
- Fuji Apples
- Gala Apples
- Granny Smith Apples
- Haralson Apples
- Newtown Pippin Apples
You can use all of one type of apples for your cobbler, or you can take it to the next cobbler level and add a delightful apple-peeling flavor punch by combining several types of apples in your cobbler.
Should I Peel The Apples For Apple Cobbler
I nearly always peel my apples when I apple bake. The skin doesn’t break down enough during baking (not like good ole peach skin) and this can make for a tougher texture. However, feel free to leave the skin on if you like.
Can I Freeze Apple Cobbler
If you only serve this apple cinnamon cobbler to one or two people there are chances there could be some leftovers (it’s so good, there’s also a chance it will be all gone). So, can you freeze it?
Yes, freeze away. I had some leftovers and froze them. They were just as delicious after I pulled them out of the freezer.
According to this post from Taste Better From Scratch, you can freeze an apple cobbler up to 3 months. So, freeze away.
Why Make This Fresh Apple Cinnamon Cobbler
Because, it’s simply all around awesome. It is so quick and no hassle to whip up and it is a yummy, delightful treat that can be served for family dessert, a fall gathering or a snack. No matter where served, it will sure rock you and whoever indulges in it to the core.
